HEAD DOODLING BACK
He had hid behind a stand of trees when I first became aware,
and looked round the soaring columns towering in the cedared air.
He peeked, grinning, in the sunbeams: light
breezes tousling his hair;
in the nave of a cathedral - before we knew that we were there.

ReplyDeletesmiles...it is a bit playful as well...have been in several woods that were just such a cathedral....holy ground...
ReplyDeleteYes, there is something very primordial and spiritual - holy - about the beautiful groves of Douglas Firs and ancient cedars that one comes upon, in this part of the world.
