He had left
pink tulips
nonchalantly perched
near the still steaming coffee pot.
(sentimental – but not gushy)
And they greeted me
in gobsmacked giggles.
(apparently, they were in on the joke)
Then I noticed:
he had sliced a cinnamon bagel in two
and placed each half in the toaster,
ready to go.
I smiled – out loud –
and whispered:
Flirt!

The moments that make life poetry are so precious.
ReplyDeleteI think I may remember this one from the old blog? A delight to read it again as it is adorable. Both the gestures of the courter and the thoughts and words of the recipient!
ReplyDeleteThanks Jennifer. Yep - Pink Tulips was posted a while back on my Head Doodles Blog. I do pull out, one of my oldies from time to time and repost, since - for the longest time - you were my only follower. I've sure appreciated your support over the years!
