Tanka – in two parts

cocooned in the still
magic in the mystic spell
moments gently drift
across white blanketed hills
through shushed snow enfolded boughs

in the solitude
and clarity of silence
enlightenment falls
like an unspoken mantra
. . . and my spirit is restored

note:  the prompt from Poetry Jam this week is “Solitude”.

  1. when we reach those spaces of silence...such as in the woods...or snow...or both...i think we draw close to being able to reach that enlightenment...away from all the noise...

  2. So pretty. I too am restored by solitude. Your snowy scene lends itself so well to the prompt. And yes, there is clarity in the silence.

  3. So very true that enlightenment falls in silence. I think it is hard to become enlightened with so much hustle and bustle around. One needs silence to cogitate! And also to restore or recharge oneself.

  4. I liked the peaceful atmosphere and scene you showed in the first stanza. The enlightenment of the second stanza does not come as a surprise.

  6. I think this is the type of silence we all crave for many time.. Snow gives such a comfort of silence and enlightenment if we let it works its way.

  9. Wendy,

I love both aspects of your snowy scenes and solitude. One requires solitude to facilate so much else in our desires...
