good,
dandy day.
it rained down . . .
in sunbeams,
all sad thoughts away.
and no one spoke . . .
without,
a nice thing to say.
we all were in chains . . .
from,
our heads to our toes:
dandelion bright crowns . . .
and
big yellow bows.
today was so awful . . .
sweet –
magical, too.
we puff puffed . . .
on puff balls:
and wishes came true.
note: the prompt
from Poetry Jam, this week was “Dandelions”. Dandelion Chains and Dandelion Crowns are made by weaving the stems together. Children - most everywhere (where there are dandelions) I suspect - believe that if you blow on a dandelion puff ball and scatter the seeds, your wish will come true.

ha. fun play with the words...awful and terrible surely....this made me smile...dream and wish on....
ReplyDeletePlaying around with words is such fun. It literally carries me away - kind of like a challenging crossword puzzle, perhaps.
Deletelove where you divided the sentences! I still make those wishes when I find a dandelion!
ReplyDeleteI've been time-travelling back, quite a bit today - remembering dandelion wishes.
DeleteI like the idea of raining in sunbeams and all sad thoughts away. Wouldn't that be wonderful if that could really be...as well as puffing on puff balls?? If only this could make wishes come true as well. It is nice to be able to dream. No harm in that.
ReplyDeleteIf only wishing made it so . . . though it doesn't hurt to try. Smiles.
DeleteLike a child's poem. So sweet. I liked the rhythm of it also....
ReplyDeleteThanks, Rebecca. When I saw that the prompt was about dandelions, my thoughts immediately went in the direction of a children's poem. Lots of childhood dandelion memories, I suppose.
Deletechains of dandelions...what a lovely image!
ReplyDeletedang- I hate having to prove I am not a robot! Cheers!
Thanks Kathe. Does my blog do the robot thing? I didn't know. I'll look into that when my tech support staff (aka son) pops by.
ReplyDeleteSo sweet, Wendy... made me smile.
ReplyDeleteThanks so much, Laurie.
DeleteDandelions get kind of a bad rap, I secretly, or not so secretly, love them. This piece made me smile too!
ReplyDeleteI suspect a lot of folks L-O-V-E dandelions. Smiles.
DeleteI like the positive tone and the power of the blown dandelion which will make our dreams come true!
ReplyDeleteWell, dreams do come true - though exactly what the secret to that is - hmmm - though dandelion puff balls, can't hurt.
ReplyDeleteChains of love, all lovingly put together. Love the way it feels of lost childhood days.
ReplyDeleteDandelion chains of love - what a lovely thought.
ReplyDeleteAh, those dandy days when we picked perfect dandelions for Mother and puffed the seed balloons out on the breeze! What a lovely bit of nostalgia you've given me, Wendy!
ReplyDelete"seed balloons" - that a "dandy" bit of wordsmithing, Susan! Cheers.
