his little boy hug
"hello"
lit the moments
in sunshine rays,
for a few hours,
and then . . .
his little boy kiss
"good-bye"
took my breath away
- in awesome wonder -
like sunset:
on a perfect day.
notes: a redo of an even shorter verse “good-bye kiss” from several years ago.
The prompt from Poetry Jam this week is "Sunset".

ah i love how you equate your visit
ReplyDeletewith the boy to the rise and fall of the sun
smiles.
He's a pretty special little kid - my grandson.
ReplyDeleteWendy, this is just perfect!
ReplyDeleteSo beautiful. Those little boy greetings are so wonderful--and they are little boys such a short time!
ReplyDeletelove how you've captivated the fleeting glorious moment in the image of your precious one...beautiful Wendy...
ReplyDeleteThis one just pulled at my, Wendy. Don't we wait all our lives for that special feeling that grandchildren give us ? A visit is worth more than gold ...
ReplyDeleteDelightful... pulls at my heartstrings, Wendy.
ReplyDeleteI like how you equate Hello with the day's sunshine and Good-bye with sunset - both good experiences, though of course, you probably preferred the Hello over the Good-bye.
ReplyDeletein awesome wonder - powerful words that paint a wonderful picture, the heart of love.
ReplyDeleteThe innocent boy equated with the rise and set of the sun is brilliantly done. so simple yet sweet.
ReplyDeleteA lovely simile Wendy!
ReplyDeleteWonderful.. A precious moment, so good you framed it this way.
ReplyDeleteSo sweet! A precious poem, just like your gramdson, I'm sure :-)
ReplyDeleteThis makes me smile, Wendy.
ReplyDeleteThis made me very sad for some reason. The goodbye kiss equated with a sunset perhaps? Poignant!
