I have come,
once again,
to that part of the journey
where the spirit must pass
through lassitude
and languor . . .
or go no
further.
Always,
when I find myself,
at this place,
I am
embraced by a phantom voice.
It
tells me: Just a little further.
Over
the years, many different voices
have whispered those
words to me.
It is a powerful
incantation.
For . . . so
far . . . I have always . . .
continued
on . . . . . . . . . . . .

I can feel the weariness in your words. Yet I hope those different voices continue to whisper for a long time, Wendy. I liked the way the layout emphasized your point.
ReplyDeleteSuch a powerful incantation to go on further than one has ever been ~ I like the steadfast attitude to continue with the journey ~
ReplyDeleteThis is a wonderful poem, Wendy. When I came up with the idea for this 'journey' prompt, this is the kind of poem I had in mind for myself...but ha, my mind went blank. And so very true that we somehow we manage to continue on
ReplyDeleteInspiring words, Even when our spirit is exhausted...just a little further.
ReplyDeleteWendy,
ReplyDeleteMany, many times I too have needed the incentive of that 'little voice,' to buoy my failing and fading spirits!!! Writing meets many weak points and blanks...Rewards can be the spur to push on, when weakness arrives..Great journey in living.
Eileen
and these words indeed push us up
ReplyDeleteThis is just how life is... but somehow we always have to go on.. we always have to take that next step. Love this metaphor of a journey.
ReplyDeleteThat is the way life goes. Just put one foot in front of the other, and see where they take you. Life is a journey no matter how far.
ReplyDeleteAh yes one gets to these places in life. Even though we think we are pausing time moves on any way and so do we. Thanks for posting this. I enjoyed it.
ReplyDelete"Just a little further"...those words are powerful encouragement for sure, and I have told them to myself often. Be it fitness, childbirth, excruciating or exhausting journeys of all types...powerful indeed. Well told, Wendy.
ReplyDeleteJust a little further...
ReplyDeletejust around the bend...
if you do not go on
your journey's at an end
how sad to have to stay put
how dull to shut the door
when just a little further
adventures are in store...
for you, by me
On to the next adventure! Loved your little voice!
I love this Wendy. It is like hope has guided you onward. Lovely writing!!
ReplyDeletethank goodness for that voice that keeps pushing us ever oneward...
ReplyDeletewhenever we feel it has become too much...and we are ready to give in..
and maybe that little longer carries us on...much farther...
Over the years, many different voices
ReplyDeletehave whispered those words to me.
It is a powerful incantation.
Very true Wendy! One with good thoughts for others normally gets inspired with ideas easily. You're blessed Ma'am!
Hank
Once again, profound and inspiring!
ReplyDelete"It tells me: Just a little further." I know what you mean….
How true & thoughtful!
ReplyDeleteWe don't know about how many journeys we have taken...
Well conveyed, Wendy :)
The journey might be long but it's nice to have that "prompt" along the way that jivvy's us to keep going. I re;late to this poem in a big way thank you.
ReplyDelete... pass-throughs can be difficult but transitioning them makes us wiser, stronger.
ReplyDeleteYes, just a little further every day. A unique approach to the prompt ---- and very nicely expressed. That "phantom voice" captured my imagination.
ReplyDeleteA beautiful, inspired and inspiring poem… may you discover many blessings as the journey continues.
ReplyDeleteOh, the temptation of " lassitude and languor"…
